Store Manager – Enderby BC

Role Summary:        

The Enderby Store Manager is responsible for the overall management of the store.  This involves:

  • Setting budgets and targets for each department and for the store as a whole;

  • Maintaining adequate stock through timely delivery schedule and efficient inventory management;

  • Negotiating prices and deals with suppliers to ensure that our pricing is competitive;

  • Recruiting and supervising department managers and recruiting, supervising, and scheduling employees in the grocery department;

  • Working with the department managers and the assistant store managers to refine the product mix in the store and provide good customer service;

  • Provides input to the weekly flyer and ensures that the weekly ad contains specials and items that are effective in bringing customers to your store, so that you can meet your targets in terms of sales and gross margins;

  • Utilizing maintenance contracts and service providers to ensure that the physical plant is in good running order

The Enderby Store Manager is part of the Senior Management Team for Askew’s, which assists with overall strategy and planning of the organization.  The Enderby Store Manager represents Askew’s in the community.

 

Education & Experience Desired:

  • 5 years of experience in recruiting, leading and supervising employees;

  • 5 years of experience managing sales, margins and budgets;

  • 10 years of related retail experience;

  • Involvement in community organizations, ideally at a leadership level;

  • Proven leadership in customer service, conflict resolution, budgeting, advertising and promotions, and employee health and safety, training and development;

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and interests:

  • Interest in business and, in particular, an interest in food retailing;

  • Leading a diverse and multi-talented team to set and achieve common goals;

  • Customer service and problem-solving skills;

  • Efficient, hardworking and productive;

  • Able and willing to present your views in staff or community meetings;

  • Takes responsibility for all of the areas under their jurisdiction including staffing, customer service and food safety, employee health and safety and the effective and efficient use of company resources;
