Location: Head Office, Salmon Arm

Askew’s Foods is now recruiting for an Accounting Assistant in our Salmon Arm Head Office. Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting and payroll related duties. This is a full-time position which offers a comprehensive wage and benefits plan.

Responsibilities:
• Verifying accuracy of payroll time sheets 
• Assisting with payroll and benefits administration
• Process and post customer payments and charges in AR
• Reconcile, code and post supplier invoices and provide back up to AP clerk
• Field queries from customers and vendors concerning AR and AP
• Maintain filing systems by scanning and filing various documents
• Answer phones and directing calls as needed
• Assist and provide backup support to other accounting staff as required
• Additional support where required across the company

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
• Recent experience in an accounting and/or payroll department 
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to handle a high volume of transactions, and paper work, every week 
• Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
• Professional attitude and team player who is flexible 
• Ability to adapt to change and maintain a positive attitude
• Strong computer skills with proven proficiency in Excel, Word & Outlook
• Experience using Sage 300 software is an asset
