This program is run in partnership with the Seniors Resource Centre in Salmon Arm. Interested seniors phone the Seniors Resource Centre to sign up. For a $3.50 per use charge a Handydart bus picks participants up at their residence at about 9:00 am on Mondays and participants are brought to the Downtown Askew’s where they are met by a group of volunteers from the Seniors Resource Centre who are able to assist with their shopping. The groceries are packed up by Seniors Resource Volunteers and then kept at the store until the Handydart arrives to pick everyone up. When participants are finished shopping, they can go to the Bombay Grill to have tea, coffee and cookies. Bombay Grill is open specifically for the Seniors at Monday Morning Market. Coffee, tea and cookies are provided by Askew’s at no extra charge. This social time is generally from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The bus driver of the Handydart comes into Bombay Grill when he/she arrives to let the seniors and volunteers know that it’s time to go.
The Handydart will only pick up and drop off at certain areas of Salmon Arm, generally from Uptown Salmon Arm to just past Downtown.  Please call Marilyn at the Seniors Resource Centre (250) 832-7000 for more information or to register for the program.
